BC, Riga, 13.03.2018.Print version

Latvian Olympian Roberto Pukitis, who represented Latvia in the short-track at the past two Winter Olympics, will not be representing Latvia anymore in competitions and will be competing under the flag of a foreign country.

Pukitis made this known in a Facebook post on Monday.

Meanwhile, Pukitis said that the reason for this is a conflict of interest with Latvian Olympic Committee President Aldons Vrublevskis, as well as the coach of the Latvian Olympic short-track team Evita Krievane.

Pukitis, who finished in 11th place in the 1,000 and 1,500 meter distances at the recent Olympics in South Korea, said that he has offers from two countries, one of them Italy.

He did not mention the second, but it is believed that this country could be France.

Pukitis told LETA that he plans on accepting one of the offers.
