Estonian film fails to get on shortlist for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar
– Estonia submitted the film "November" directed by Rainer
Sarnet as a candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but
the film failed to make the shortlist., informs LETA/BNS.
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences picked the nine
films that will compete for the Best Foreign Language Film award - "A
Fantastic Woman" from Chile, "In the Fade" from Germany,
"On Body and Soul" from Hungary, "Foxtrot" from Israel,
"The Insult" from Lebanon, "Loveless" from Russia,
"Felicite" from Senegal, "The Wound" from South Africa and
"The Square" from Sweden.
The international premiere of "November" took place at the
Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The film was also chosen as part of the
official program of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and has been
screened at several other festivals.
The film's cast includes Rea Lest and Jorgen Liik. The film's operator is
Mart Taniel, producer Katrin Kissa, and production design was done by Jaagup
Roomet and Matis Maesalu. The film was coproduced by Ellen Havenith and Lukasz
Dzieciol. The film is distributed in the U.S. by Oscilloscope Pictures.
The 90th Academy Awards is to take place on March 4, 2018 in Los Angeles.
The final shortlist for the Best Foreign Language Film award made up of five
films is to be announced in January 2018.
