Briedis vs Usyk to be held in Riga on January 27

World cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk from Ukraine (13-0, 11 KOs) will be traveling to Riga on January 27 to face WBC champion from Latvia Mairis Briedis (23-0, 18 KOs) in the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) tournament, the Boxingnews24 portal reports, cites LETA.


The organizers of the event promise to officially announce the date and site of the bout later this week.


Briedis retained his WBC cruiserweight title and moved on to the semifinal round of the World Boxing Super Series tournament after defeating Cuba’s Mike Perez in Riga this past October.


Meanwhile, Usyk defeated Germany's Marco Huck in his semifinal in September.
