Allied units, including Latvia, to take part in Kaitseliit exercise in Estonia

Units of NATO allies, including Latvia, will take part in the Pohjakonn (Dragon of the North) exercise of the Kaitseliit (Defense League) volunteer corps that is scheduled to kick off in Estonia on Friday, informs LETA/BNS.

 

Units of the armed forces of France, Canada and Latvia will be taking part in the exercise for the first time, military spokespeople in Tallinn said on Tuesday.

 

The tactical training exercise ending on Sunday will be held in the territory of four rural municipalities of East-Viru and West-Viru counties. In addition to units of the Estonian defense forces and Kaitseliit, as well as units from Lithuania, the UK and the United States, units from France, Canada and Latvia will take part in the exercise for the first time.

 

The training exercise focuses on rehearsing cooperation between units and headquarters of Kaitseliit in the planning and conduct of combat. Several combat actions will be rehearsed in the course of the three-day exercise, which will involve also armored equipment of allies and the Estonian defense forces.
