At the Hypo-Meeting athletics competition in the Austrian town of Goetzis, Latvia's heptathlete Laura Ikauniece-Admidina placed third with a new national record of Latvia - 6,815 points, or 193 points more than the previous record that Ikauniece-Admidina had achieved a year ago, also in Goetzis, reports LETA.

Nafissatou Thiam (Belgium) won the gold medal with 6,810 points, and Carolin Schafer(Germany) placed second with 6,557 points.

As reported, Ikauniece-Admidina, who placed fourth at the Rio Olympic Games last year, was named the best female track and field athlete of Latvia in 2015 and 2016.
