Two men detained for large-scale drug contraband from UK
The Latvian State Police detained two men for large-scale drug contraband from the UK, the police reported.
The police received information about two men allegedly involved in illegal circulation of drugs. Officers of The Organized Crime Enforcement Department(ONAP) of the Latvian State Police discovered during investigation that the men had been smuggling drugs from the UK and then selling them to Latvia residents.
In late March the police searched the apartment, house and car of the men and seized more than 260 grams of MDMA crystals and 190 grams of MDA, as well as two grams of cocaine and 1.5 grams of dried marijuana. Also the police seized packaging materials, and EUR 2,500.
The police detained the suspects – a 30-year old man who supplied drugs from the UK, and a 21-year old man who sold drugs in Latvia. None of them had previous criminal record.
According to the current information, the two men had been involved in smuggling and sale of drugs for more than a year and had regular customer base.
