Latvian football team drops to 113th place in FIFA rankings

The Latvian national football team has dropped three spots in the latest FIFA ranking to 113th position, informed LETA.


Latvia currently has 304 ranking points.


Just this past October, Latvia was in 116th position, which was just three spots below its worst ever ranking three years ago.


Latvia played its last competitive match in November - a 4:1 loss to Portugal in a World Cup qualifier.


Meanwhile, Lithuania has dropped four spots in the rankings at 109th position, while Estonia has moved down two spots to 119th position.


Argentina is atop the rankings, followed by Brazil in second, Germany in third, and Chile in fourth place. Belgium is ranked 5th in the rankings, followed by France, Colombia, Portugal, Uruguay, and Spain.


Of Latvia's group opponents in the World Cup 2018 qualification campaign, Portugal is ranked 8th, Switzerland is 11th, Hungary is 27th, the Faroe Islands 82nd, while Andorra is ranked 203rd.


The Latvian team will play its next match on March 25 when it will take on Switzerland in a World Cup qualification game.
