Latvian powerboat racer Uvis Slakteris won the UIM F2 World Championship race in Lithuania, reports LETA/BNS.

According to Latvian Water Motorsports Federation, the race was affected by high winds and waves. Sweden's Pierre Lundin, the leader in the overall rankings, crashed out shortly after the start of the race. Slakteris, who was fifth at the beginning of the race, was steadily working his way up to finally overtake the leader, Erik Edin - another racer from Sweden, at the 45th and last lap of the race.

Slakteris said after the race he was very happy to win, noting that he had hit part of Lundin's boat when it crashed, damaging his own boat. He also thanked his team and mechanics for making the right decisions during the race.

At the moment, Lundin and Edin are leading the overall rankings with 55 points each. Slakteris is currently in 16th place with 27 points.
