Daugavins helps Torpedo take down Riga Dinamo
In Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) action
on Thursday, Latvian national team forward Kaspars
Daugavins helped his Nizhny Novgorod
Torpedo take down Latvian ice hockey club Riga Dinamo 0:2.
Daugavins
scored a goal and made an assist, as Dinamo was unable to score a goal in the
match.
With the
loss, Dinamo has lost its first two matches of the season, with its next match
on Saturday at Russian ice hockey club Moscow
Spartak.
It is
interesting to point out that Torpedo
is coached by Latvian duo Peteris Skudra
and Girts Ankipans.
Last
season, Dinamo finished in overall
12th place in the Western Conference standings, failing to qualify for the KHL
playoffs for the second season in a row.
A total
of 29 team from eight countries will be playing in the KHL this season -
Russia, Latvia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Finland, Slovakia, Croatia and China.
The
KHL's regular season will conclude on February 18.
