Vilnius gets graffiti of Putin-Trump kiss

BC, Vilnius, 13.05.2016.Print version

An implied kiss between Republican candidate for US president Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin painted in a new graffiti in Vilnius grew massive attention on social networks in Lithuania and abroad on Friday, informs LETA/BNS.

The Vilnius picture resembles the famous Berlin Wall graffiti, which portrayed a kiss between Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev and the leader of the Eastern German Communist regime, Erich Honecker.

"We saw similarities between the two heroes (Trump and Putin). They both feature an ego that is too big and it is funny that they get along well," Dominykas Ceckauskas, the author of the idea and co-owner of fast food restaurant Keule Ruke, told BNS Lithuania.

"We are in a sort of a Cold War again, and America may get a president who will want to be friends with Russia," he added.

Political scientist Vytis Jurkonis said that the new graffiti may be yet another reason for inviting Russian artist Dmitriy Vrubel who authored the Berlin Wall graffiti to come to Vilnius.

"The Russian artist Vrubel's graffiti on the Berlin Wall marked the break of the epoch, we had plans to invite him to Vilnius earlier, so this may be yet another argument for him to come," Jurkonis told BNS Lithuania on Friday.
