Pope’s messenger to arrive in Lithuania to celebrate 400th anniversary of the manifestation of St. Mary

On Friday, Pope Benedict XVI"s messenger extraordinary Cardinal Joachim Meisner is to arrive to celebrate 400th anniversary of the manifestation of St. Mary in Vilnius, informs ELTA.

 

On Sunday, the cardinal will represent the Holy Father, who is currently visiting France, in the culmination of the ceremony in Siluva.

 

On Friday, the Pope"s messenger will serve a High Mass in the Gate of the Dawn in Vilnius. Later he will visit Kaunas, where he will sanctify the cornerstone of the Christ Resurrection Parish, meet Kaunas leaders in the city hall, visit the Jesuit gymnasium and the Cathedral Basilica. Moreover, when the cardinal goes to Siluva, he will visit Raseiniai residents.

 

On Sunday, September 14, Meisner will head the solemn Eucharist, which will start at midday at the quare between the Siluva Basilica and the Manifestation Chapel. The liturgy will also be attended by Polish Church first Cardinal Juzef Gemp, all Lithuanian priests and 20 bishops from Poland, Belarus, Latvia and Estonia. President Valdas Adamkus, special messenger of the Polish president, foreign ambassadors, MPs, ministers, university rectors, guests from Poland, Germany, nationals from the U.S.A., Canada, Poland and other countries intend to participate in the solemn ceremony.
