Latvian hockey forward Kaspars Daugavins has after all joined the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) club Nizhny Novgorod "Torpedo", coached by Latvia's Peteris Skudra, reports LETA, according to "Torpedo".

As reported, Moscow "Dynamo" placed Daugavins on KHL waivers last week due to his poor performance in "Dynamo's" opening matches of the season. Daugavins was picked by Khabarovsk "Amur", but did not play a single match with the club. Now he has been traded to "Torpedo" in exchange for defender Nikita Tserenok and Evgeni Belokhvostikov.

The 27-year-old Daugavins has participated in eight KHL games so far this season, scoring one goal and three assists, and earning a minus 5 efficiency rating.

Last season, Daugavins was the highest-scoring player on "Dynamo" roster, with 22 goals and 15 assists in 56 regular season games that earned him a plus 16 efficiency rating. In KHL playoffs, he scored one goal and three assists, with neutral efficiency rating.

Daugavins joined the Moscow club last summer, signing a two-year contract. Before that he was a successful player in the National League A in Switzerland.

The Latvian also participated in 98 National Hockey League games, playing for Ottawa "Senators" and Boston "Bruins", and scoring six goals and nine assists.

Daugavins was selected by the "Senators" in the third round, 91st overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Daugavins was part of the Latvian national hockey team at the past seven world championships, and the team's skipper at this year's championship in the Czech Republic.
