Ostapenko can’t hold on and drops out of U.S. Open

On Tuesday, Latvia's top-ranked lady tennis player Alona Ostapenko dropped out of the U.S. Open ''Grand Slam'' tennis tournament, reports LETA.
In the tournament's second-round, the 18-year-old Ostapenko lost to Italy's Sara Errani 6-0, 4-6, 3-6.
At the moment, Ostapenko is ranked 114th in the WTA rankings, while Errani is ranked 16th.
Ostapenko has earned 40 WTA ranking points for qualifying for the U.S. Open, as well as another 70 ranking points for advancing to the tournament's second-round.
As reported, earlier this week, Ostapenko won her first ever match at the U.S. Open ''Grand Slam'' tennis tournament after defeating Germany's Annika Beck 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to advance to the tournament's second-round.
