Traditional festival "Capital Days" begins in Vilnius on Friday. This year it is being held for the 16th time in a row, informs ELTA.

For the entire three days of the festival, Gediminas prospect from the Cathedral to Kudirka"s Square will turn into a busy prospect with traditional fairs, presentations of crafts and culinary heritage, art galleries and concerts.

The music, dances and songs of various national communities living in Lithuania will take place on the main "artery" of the capital this year. This year the topic of the "Busy Prospect" is "A teacher and his students". It will be interesting to watch well-known jazz saxophone player Petras Vysniauskas and his pupils, accordion professor Ricardas Sviackevicius and his pupils, and popular rock performer Povilas Meskela and his pupils, as well as singing youth supervised by Nijole Maceikaite, who has formed a lot of pop music professionals.

As usually the festival will be "framed" with big concerts on the Cathedral Square. At the opening concert on Friday evening, one of the most famous Georgian collectives "The Shin" will perform. In its performances, it unites jazz, pop and folk music.

Afterwards the British band "Kosheen", which is considered to be the biggest star of the entire festival, will perform.

This year, the budget of the "Capital Days" is 600,000 litas (174,137 euros). Half of this sum is allocated by Vilnius City Municipality.
