Despite win, Latvian U-18 men fail to qualify for QF at European Championships

Despite beating the Czech Republic yesterday, Latvia needed help from other teams to have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals at this year's U-18 Men's Basketball Championships, informs LETA.
However, this help did not come, as Spain defeated Germany and France lost to Serbia, thus mathematically eliminating Latvia from contention for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Latvia will conclude the tournament's second group stage this evening against Spain, and will then play in the consolidation tournament for 9th to 16th place.
The tournament's bottom three teams will be relegated to Division B.
