Successful start of Latvian clubs in UEFA Europa League

On July 2nd, Latvian football club Jurmala ''Spartaks'' made its UEFA Europa League debut with a 3:1 win over Montenegrin football club Podgorica ''Buducnost'' in a first-leg first qualification round match. Nauris Bulvitis scored two goals for the Latvian club, informs LETA.

 

These two teams will play the second-leg match in Latvia on July 9.

 

The Latvian football club Riga ''Skonto'' opened its UEFA Europa League qualification campaign with a 2:1 victor over Irish football club St Patrick ''Athletic''.

 

Arturs Karasauskas (38th minute) and Vladislavs Gutkovskis (65th minute) scored the goals for the Latvian club.

 

These two team will play a second-leg match in Ireland next week.

 

The Latvian football club ''Jelgava'' pulled out a 1:1 draw in a first-leg UEFA Europa League qualifier against Bulgarian football club Lovech ''Litex''.

 

Olegs Malesenoks scored the equalizer for the Latvian club in the 83rd minute of the match to pull out the draw.

 

The winners on aggregate will advance to the UEFA Europa League's second qualification round.

 

There are a total of four qualification rounds in this season's UEFA Europa League.
