Estonia appointed first defence attaché in Georgia

Last week Lieutenant Colonel Risto Lumi started his work as the first Estonian defence attaché in Georgia, writes Postimees Online/LETA.

 

Minister of defence Jaak Aaviksoo noted that supporting Georgia has been a long-term priority for the Estonian Ministry of Defence and the need for an Estonian defence attaché in Georgia was long felt.

 

“I am glad that such an experienced and educated officer like Lieutenant Colonel Risto Lumi will represent Estonia in Georgia,” said Aaviksoo.

 

Currently Estonia has a total of ten defence attachés in charge of liaisons with the following countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Denmark, Norway, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, the United States, Canada, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
