Early in the morning of 25 May, five soldiers from NATO allied nations suffered heavy metal gas poisoning at a Lithuanian Armed Forces training event, reported Lithuania's Ministry of National Defence.

Currently their condition is stable, the troops are undergoing symptomatic treatment and are observed. The troops' nationality is not publicised on the basis of international agreements. An investigation has been launched to identify the causes of the incident.

The soldiers were injured during a Lithuanian Armed Forces-organised exercise training national defence. The exercise is agreed with the city council and police of Marijampole. The Lithuanian Armed Forces thank Marijampole Hospital for the assistance and cooperation.
