Riga will host the 2017 European Choir Games, Riga Vice Mayor Andris Ameriks (Honor to Serve Riga) said after a meeting yesterday with the president of the German cultural organization "Interkultur" Gunter Titsch, cites LETA.

Ameriks pointed out that hosting the game is a huge honor and responsibility for Riga. ''We are ready to hose the European Choir Games,'' the politician said.

Ameriks added that the Latvian capital received much praise after organizing a successful World Choir Games last year, and this experience will be used to organize the European Choir Games in 2017.

It is planned that the European Choir Games will take place on July 15 in Riga, and will gather 200 choirs and over 8,000 singers.

''Interkultur'' is the organization which organizes the World Choir Games and the European Choir Games.
