Alvis Hermanis' new production "Brodsky/Baryshnikov" will have its premiere at the New Riga Theater on October 15, 2015, the performance is produced in collaboration with actor Mikhail Baryshnikov, as the New Riga Theater's public relations manager Daiga Binane told LETA.

Baryshnikov was a close friend of the Nobel Prize winner Joseph Brodsky, he knew Brodsky for 22 years up until the poet's death in 1996. In Hermanis' new performance, the two personalities meet again on the stage.

The performance focuses on Baryshnikov's interpretations of Brodsky's poetry. Hermanis and Baryshnikov will take the audience to a fantasy world to experience the complex, lyrical and powerful poetry of Brodsky. The performance will be in Russian with translation in Latvian.

The new performance is a coproduction of the New Riga Theater and Baryshnikov Productions.
