Security Police arrested Narva City Council member

On Thursday the Security Police detained Aleksandr Moissejev, a member of the Narva City Council, who is suspected of giving a bribe, writes EPL Online/LETA.

 

According to prosecutor Antti Aitsen who is in charge of special cases, the man who was born in 1968 is suspected of giving a bribe. The prosecutor will decide by Friday at the latest whether to request for a permission from the court to detain Moissejev for the duration of pre-trial investigation.

 

“On the basis of the materials of the criminal case collected thus far, the objective of the bribe was to affect the division of financial crimes of the Eastern Circuit Police Prefecture to make a positive decision towards the person giving a bribe in a criminal case that is being processed by them,” stated the press release by the prosecutor’s office.

 

Aleksandr Moissejev is a member of the Narva City Council and of the Reform Party. Earlier a number of media outlets have stated that Moissejev is the so-called grey cardinal in the Narva City Government. He is a member of the supervisory board of the Narva waste management enterprise AS Heakorrastus and in the municipal enterprise AS Narva Vesi.
