Estonians gamblers mostly play the lottery

A study conducted by TNS Emor "Exposure of Estonian population to gambling in 2014" indicates that the majority of Estonian people who have a contact to gambling play the lottery, LETA/Õhtuleht online reports.

 

The results of the study that was carried out at the initiative of Gambling Addiction Counselling Centre and introduced today in the Finance Ministry, indicates that the risk group has decreased among players while the spread of gambling among population has not changed significantly.

 

Over the past two years a half of the population (of 15-74 year olds) has participated in some game played for money.

 

Most (45%) play the lottery, 5% have made a bet on slot machines, 4% play poker, 2% have played at a games table in a casino, 2% had participated in sports betting.

 

3.6% of the population are suffering from gambling addiction which is about 40,000 people. The favourite games of addicts (95%) are the lottery, instant lottery, raffles accompanying the purchase of goods or services or people have tried to get to a TV or radio game show.

 

In the second place (48%) is poker, casino games and online betting games.
