President Dalia Grybauskaite congratulated philosopher Arvydas Sliogeris on his 70th anniversary and wished strong health and new creative horizons, informs LETA/ELTA.

Professor Arvydas Sliogeris, a philosopher and author of numerous books, is one of the most talented and unique people in Lithuania.

According to the head of state, the professor has prepared many young scientists, who can proudly say who their teacher was.

Thinking and creating Lithuania cannot be imagined without Sliogeris' creative and critical evaluation of our daily life, from which everyone can learn not only wisdom but also respect for nature, our language and our land.

Sliogeris has taught philosophy in Vilnius University for more than 40 years, in 2003-2012 he headed the Department of Philosophy. The professor has not only written many books and articles but has translated works of prominent Western philosophers as well.
