Lithuanian MFA receives award from Moldova

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius who is visiting Moldova has been bestowed the Order of Honour award for personal contribution supporting Moldova's European-integration, reports LETA/ELTA.

 

"Lithuania will continue supporting Moldova on its European path that requires to maintain strong resolve both by people and the government, despite hardships or external pressure," said Linkevicius.

 

On 1 September Linkevicius attended the meeting of Friends of Moldova Group, in which the foreign ministers and other top officials of the European Union member states discussed future agenda on Moldova's way towards Euro-integration.

 

Other points addressed were assistance to Moldova in dealing with economic hardships which it encounters due to politicised sanctions by the Russian Federation that were imposed once Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the EU.

 

The head of Lithuanian diplomacy also met with Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Corman, Foreign Affairs and Euro-integration Minister Natalia Gherman.

 

The Lithuanian foreign minister is still scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and members of the Opposition.

 

The ministers of foreign affairs of Lithuania and Moldova are going to co-chair the Euro-integration Commission sitting.

 

The Order of Honour is the highest Moldovan award bestowed on foreign citizens.
