The Latvian national men's basketball team defeated Slovakia 89-65 (20-16, 30-17, 22-19, 17-13) in a qualification match for the 2015 European Men's Basketball Championships (EuroBasket 2015) last night, informs LETA.

Therefore, the Latvian team has officially qualified for EuroBasket 2015.

Janis Blums and Kristaps Janicenoks were the highest scorers for Latvia with 13 points each, whereas Dairis Bertans scored 11 points.

As reported, Latvia opened the qualification campaign with a 62-50 win over Sweden. In the next qualification games, Latvia beat Slovakia 86-66, Romania 88-65, and, at the start of the second round of the qualification tournament, Latvia defeated Sweden 79-76 in OT.

In another Group F qualifier last night, Romania downed Sweden 88-86.

After five games in the EuroBasket 2015 qualification tournament, Latvia is first in Group F with five wins in five matches. Romania is in second place with four wins, Sweden is third with one victory, whereas Slovakia has suffered defeat in all five games.

In the last qualifier, Latvia will play Romania.

The winners of the seven qualification groups, as well as the six best runners-up will qualify for EuroBasket 2015.
