Participants of Exercise Saber Strike 2014 from Denmark already in Lithuania

On June 9 the principal part of the Danish contingent deployed to Exercise Saber Strike 2014, approximately 700 members, arrived in Lithuania by six commercial flights, informs LETA/ELTA the Ministry of National Defence.

 

The troops travelled from Karmelava Airport to the Lithuanian Grand Hetman Jonusas Radvila Training Regiment by transport of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and were escorted by the Military Police. At their destination site the Danish troops alongside Polish and US participants will begin preparing for the multinational Exercise Saber Strike 2014 that will run in the three Baltic States from June 9 through 20.

 

The exercise will involve a record number of participants, more than 4.5 thousand military personnel from 10 NATO and partner states –Denmark, Estonia, the US, the UK, Canada, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Norway and Finland. The training will be attended by several of hundreds of participants in Estonia, 2 thousand – in Latvia, and 2.3 thousand – in Lithuania.

 

The exercise arranged by the US Army in Europe (USAREUR) and hosted by the three Baltic States is taking place for the fourth time. The training event will help NATO joint military units practise interoperability, coordination of actions and readiness to execute defensive and offensive operations.
