Algirdas Matonis, Chief of the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau was removed from his office on the grounds of the discredit to the name of the public officer, informs LETA/ELTA.
It was announced on Monday, after Lithuanian Police Commissioner General Saulius Skvernelis signed the conclusion of the official enquiry.
Matonis is accused of drunk driving. On March 22, the official car Skoda Suberb was stopped in Vilnius. The car was driven by the head the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau, Matonis.
Matonis was working in the police since 1991, he was heading the Criminal Police Bureau since 2005.
