Latvian famed author of children's books Margarita Staraste dies at age 100

Margarita Staraste, the beloved Latvian author and illustrator of children's books, is dead at the age of 100 on February 18th.
As Vija Kilbloka from the "Zvaigzne ABC" Publishing House informed LETA, Staraste had celebrated her centennial just recently – last week.
Staraste, who published her first work in 1942, was honored with the Order of the Three Stars in 1999 for her contribution to Latvian literature and the nation.
