Estonia's Independence Day parade to be the biggest since regaining independence

The Estonian Independence Day military parade on February 24, marking the 96th anniversary of the Estonian Republic, will be the biggest in the number of participants during the period after Estonia regained independence, LETA/Õhtuleht online reports.

The parade takes place on Monday, February 24 in the Pärnu central square and over 1,400 Defence Forces, Defence League members and military students as well as units of allies will line up there. The units of allies participate at the parade for the first time, UK, USA, Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark are represented with their units. For the first time the parade includes armoured vehicles' manoeuvring company with the Sisu XA-180 vehicles. The parade will be received by president Toomas Hendrik Ilves and headed by Defence Forces commander-in-chief major general Riho Terras.

Many militarily vehicles and equipment is present and with weather permitting. Estonian air force planes and NATO fighter planes guarding the Baltic air space will make a flyover. Defence Forces and Police and Border Guard Board orchestras also attend.
