Ambassador to Bulgaria nominated and ambassador to Holy See to be changed in Lithuania
Print versionThe Government suggests the president that Arunas Vinciunas should be appointed the Lithuanian Ambassador to Bulgaria.
It was also decided at the Wednesday Government meeting to suggest the head of state that Algirdas Saudargas should be withdrawn from the post of the Lithuanian Ambassador to the Holy See and Vytautas Alisauskas should be appointed to this post, writes ELTA.
Currently Vinciunas is serving as the head of the Eastern neighborhood policy department under the Foreign Ministry.
It is offered that Vinciunas should be appointed the Lithuanian Ambassador to Bulgaria as of July 11.
Vinciunas is the first Lithuanian ambassador to reside in Bulgaria. Up till now Lithuania used to be represented in Bulgaria by an ambassador residing in Athens. The Lithuanian Embassy to Bulgaria was established on 1 October 2007.
Lithuania and Bulgaria established diplomatic relations on 10 September 1991.The Government is also submitting a proposal to the president to withdraw Algirdas Saudargas from the post of the Lithuanian Ambassador to the Holy See as of October 27 and to appoint Vytautas Alisauskas to this post.
It is offered that Alisauskas should be appointed the Lithuanian Ambassador to the Holy See as of October 28.
Alisauskas would be the third Lithuanian Ambassador to the Holy See after the restoration of Lithuania"s independence.
Lithuania and the Holy See restored diplomatic relations on 30 September 1991.
