Wood exports in Latvia grew by 43.1% in H1

Latvia's exports of wood and wood products in the first six months of 2010 totaled LVL 434.217 million, according to the Agriculture Ministry's data. This is 43.1% more than in the same period last year, the ministry said.

Wood and articles of wood comprise the largest portion of Latvia's wood exports, LVL 381 million – an increase of 49.1% from the first half of 2009. Sawn timber exports totaled LVL 125.1 million, round timber – LVL 62.31 million, and plywood – LVL 39 million, informs LETA.

 

On the other hand, the volume of wood furniture exports dropped 5%, to LVL 25.468 million in the first six months this year.

 

The bulk of Latvia's wood exports, 16.8%, went to Sweden, 11.7% to Germany and 11.3% to Great Britain.
