Round timber export in Latvia increased by 54.2% in January

In January 2010, when compared to January 2009, round timber export from Latvia increased by 54.2%, as the Agriculture Ministry's Forest Resource Department informed LETA.

262,500 cubic meters of round timber was exported from Latvia this past January, compared to 170,200 cubic meters in January of last year.

 

The value of the timber exported in January was LVL 7.5 million, which is 38.4% more when compared to the same month last year, when the value of timber exported reached LVL 5.4 million.

 

In the first month of the year, 101,200 cubic meters of conifers were exported to Sweden, registering a 14.7% increase when compared to January 2009. 20,000 cubic meters (13.8% increase) were exported to Estonia, and 10,000 cubic meters (49.6% decrease) to Finland.

 

80,300 cubic meters of deciduous round timber export went to Sweden last month, 26,300 cubic meters was exported to Estonia, and 11,100 was exported to Finland.
