The Estonian government rejected on Thursday the bill initiated by the opposition's Centre Party that wished to restrict advertising of energy drinks similar to advertising of alcohol, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

Riga Central District Court has imposed an LVL 100 fine on the Riga City Council for violations of the election campaigning regulations ascertained at the local government. The Riga City Council has ten days to appeal the ruling, as Janis Jaksons, aide to the court's chairwoman, told LETA.
Harmony Center has turned to the Riga Central District Court against Unity today, accusing the party of slander, the court's spokesman Janis Jaksons told LETA. Harmony Center also wishes to collect LVL 10,000 in moral compensation from Unity.
Riga Mayor Nils Usakovs (Harmony Center) is planning to sue the Unity party for defamation of character and dissemination of false information, LETA has been informed.
Due to numerous requests of participants, the deadline of submission of works to the Vth International Advertising Festival "White Square" is prolonged till April 6. The Festival will take place in Minsk in April 18-20.
Lithuanian Minister of Finance Rimantas Sadzius supports the practice used in Switzerland where politicians are forbidden to agitate the public to support one or the other decision. The minister says that people should be informed simply by explaining the advantages and the drawbacks of the issue, reports LETA/ELTA.
Compared to 2011, the Baltic advertising market grew by 3% to EUR 242.7 million (LVL 170.5 million) in 2012, according to data from the market, social and media research company TNS Latvia, Latvian Advertising Association and TNS companies in Estonia and Lithuania, writes LETA/Nozare.lv.
