SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz) Chairman of the Board Edvīns Bērziņš and Member of the Board Aivars Strakšas have sent an application to the law enforcement authorities with the request to evaluate possible activity of the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, Tālis Linkaits, in the interest of private industrial companies, while at the same time attempting to cause reduction of the value and privatisation of LDz.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the average monthly gross income per employee was 1,234 euros, which is 79 euros more than in 2017. Gross income has been on the rise since 2011.

In the 1st quarter of 2019, construction output in Latvia grew by 7.4%

The latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to the 1st quarter of 2018, in the 1st quarter of 2019 construction output1 increased by 7.4 % (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices). Construction output rise was observed in construction of buildings (of 4.8%) and specialised construction activities (20.5%), but civil engineering experienced a drop (of 2.4%).

The Corruption Prevention Bureau (KNAB) has started a criminal probe against several officials of the municipal foundation Riga Tourism Development Bureau (RTAB) over embezzlement of budget funds, counterfeiting of documents and use of counterfeit documents, as well as fraud, LETA was told at the anti-corruption bureau.
