Latvian Chamber signed a cooperation agreement with AmCham Latvia and LACC

The Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Tuesday, July 3, signed a cooperation agreement with the American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia (AmCham Latvia) and the Latvian American Chamber of Commerce (LACC) in order to promote investment and trade between the two countries, LETA was told at the LCCI.

In May, industrial production output in Latvia dropped by 1.1%

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to May 2017, in May 2018 industrial production output (1) decreased by 1.1% (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices). A drop was recorded in electricity and gas supply (of 16.4%), as the warm and dry weather provoked a decline in the production of electricity at hydropower stations and in gas supply to consumers. In turn, an increase in production output was recorded in manufacturing (of 2.9%), as well as in mining and quarrying (of 7.1%).

Lithuanian Railways plans to invest EUR 7 bln by 2030

Lithuania's state-run railway company Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) plans to invest 7 billion euros by 2030 and reach a turnover of 725 million euros, up 60 percent from last year. The company's profit is set to double over the next 12 years, informs LETA/BNS.

The gender pay gap increased in Lithuania, except for agriculture, forest and fishing enterprises, and stood at 14.2% last year, up 0.8%age points, the latest figures from the Statistics Lithuania show, cites LETA/BNS.

Collective agreement on minimum wage in construction industry has been signed by more 211 companies so far, whose own account construction works make up EUR 641 million - that is 90% of the minimum amount for the collective agreement to come into force, Latvian Partnership of Building Contractors informed LETA.

Estonia and Lithuania achieve highest tier in Trafficking in Persons Report

In the annual Trafficking in Persons Report compiled by the U.S. Department of State, in 2018, Estonia achieved the highest level, Tier 1, for the first time, and the total number of countries studied was 187, informs LETA/BNS. Lithuania has also Tier 1, but Latvia Tier 2.
