In August, construction costs in Latvia increased by 0.1%

Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to July, in August 2017 the level of construction costs in Latvia grew by 0.1%. Maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment rose by 0.4%, labour remuneration of workers (1) decreased by 0.1%, whereas prices of building materials did not change significantly.

Estonia is ranked 29th among 137 countries in the World Economic Forum's (WEFs) Global Competitiveness Index edition for 2017-2018, one place higher than in the previous report. Lithuania was in place 41, up from 35 in the rankings for 2016-2017, and Latvia in place 54, down from 49 last year, informs LETA/BNS.

DNB issues EUR 3.7 mln loan to Sisne Invest Riga for acquisition of PK Riga hotel

Latvia's DNB Banka has issued a EUR 3.7 million loan to Sisne Invest Riga for acquisition of PK Riga hotel, the bank announced. At the same time, DNB bank in Estonia has granted a EUR 4.4 million loan for purchase of PK Ilmarine hotel in Tallinn. Both hotels are part of PK Hotels chain, informs LETA.

Cargo turnover of Baltic ports up 4.2% in 8 months

All Baltic ports together handled 100.461 million tons of cargo in January-August this year, up 4.2% or 4.031 million tons from the same period in 2016, reports LETA, according to the data released by the Latvian Central Statistical Bureau.
