Canadian Embassy warns travelers of unauthorized websites offering eTA

The Canadian Embassy in Riga advises travelers who need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to obtain it at the Canadian government’s website and to avoid websites charging more than CAD 7 for processing the application, informs LETA.

LETA was told at the embassy that since the launch of eTA, many companies have created websites providing users information and offering help in getting an eTA for a higher price. These companies are not operating on behalf of the Canadian government, the embassy warns.

Entering an eTA application at Canada’s official government website www.canada.ca/eTA is a simple process and costs CAD 7.

As of March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada, including Latvian nationals, are expected to have an Electronic Travel Authorization.
