Demand for rental flats grows in Lithuania

As the academic year is approaching, the university students start to search for the place to live. The supply of the rental flats is decreasing. As a result, the prices for the rental flats are increasing at the end of the summer, reported LETA/ELTA.

The average price for the rental flat at the beginning of August reached LTL 1120 (EUR 324) while the average price at the beginning of August in 2012 was LTL 1060 (EUR 306).


According to the data provided by the website domoplius.lt, people are searching for the rental flats whose rents do not exceed LTL 800 (EUR 231).


According to the data, the rental flats having 2 rooms are the most popular (every other person is asking for them). The quarter of all people are asking for the one bedroom rental flats and about 17 percent - for the rental flats having 3 bedrooms.


According to the experts of the estate, the prices of the rental flats have increased by 8 percent in Vilnius city and by 6 percent in Klaipeda city during the period of a year. The different situation was found in Kaunas city where prices of the rental flats remained the same.
