The weighted average price of a square metre of apartment space in Estonian towns grew by 6.4% in July 2013, to the level last seen in October 2008, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The Pindi Index indicated that the weighted average price of a square meter of flats in the 17 bigger Estonian cities and towns was 1,013 EUR. The last time the index was above 1,000 EUR a square metres was in October 2008, but as compared to the bottom of the recession, the price increase has been over 62%. In June, the revised index sum was 952 EUR a square metre.

While in June, 929 transactions were carried out with flats in 17 larger Estonian cities, in July the activity level in transactions was 775. In July last year, the number was 1,000.

The price index compiled by Pindi Kinnisvara takes into account the weighted average price of a square metre of purchase and sale contracts where the objects are flat ownerships in all county centres as well as in the cities of Kohtla-Järve and Narva.
