National Library project implementation in Riga on schedule

Print versionConstruction of the new Latvian National Library building continues on schedule, Culture Minister Zaneta Jaunzeme-Grende (VL-TB/LNNK) told reporters after today's meeting with President Andris Berzins.

The library project was discussed at the minister's meeting with the president today. "At the moment, everything is happening strictly according to the schedule," said Jaunzeme-Grende, writes LETA.
The minister pointed out that the construction of the new library building will be concluded on November 18 and the National Library will begin relocating to it. In 2014, the National Library will play an important part when Riga will be the European Capital of Culture, as well as in 2015 when Latvia will hold the European Council Presidency.
The officials also discussed preparation for the 2013 Song and Dance Festival, Latvia's artistic program for November 18 Independence Day celebrations, and creative industries.
