The city government of Tallinn will at its Wednesday session initiate a detailed development plan of building artificial islands in the sea close to the Paljassaare peninsula, Postimees Online/LETA reports.

The planning will be started at the initiative of Kopli Art High School principal, city council member Märt Sults who wants to build three islands in the sea to build on them residential houses, business space, a yachting port, a beach and a park.

Märt Sults has said that the problem is not building the islands but keeping them as islands since in some places the depth of the sea between the coats and the islands would be less than a meter.

Three islands are planned: a culture island for concerts and other cultural events, a children’s island offering entertainment for children and families and an “island of sin” i.e. casino island.

Sults has promised to finance education establishments of Tallinn with revenues from the casino island.

So far planning and designing has taken place for the finances of Sults and his friends and they have spent some quarter of a million kroons on it.
