A total of 24,243 apartments and 7,694 single-family houses were sold in Lithuania in January through October 2015, down 11.2% and 7.1%, respectively, from the same period last year, preliminary data from the Center of Registers showed on November 5th, cites BNS/LETA.

In October alone, apartment sales rose by an annual 8.3% to 2,970 units whereas house sales went down by 10.5% to 851 units. Month-on-month, apartment sales increased by 2.6% and house sales were up by 1.7%.

“Apartment sales in October, which is usually a busy month in the real estate market, set this year's monthly record. However, this record was achieved thanks to transactions in smaller municipalities. Meanwhile, house trading in four of five cities was weaker than in September,” the Center of Registers said in a press release.

Some 89,300 real estate units, including land plots and non-residential premises and buildings and other types of property, changed owners via purchase transactions in the ten-month period, down by 6.6% from the same period last year.

The number of land parcels sold in January through October (excluding land purchased from the state) decreased by an annual 1.6% to 44,400.
