Print versionThe European Men Basketball Championship is a goldmine for earning some money. Possessing at least one spare bed, Lithuanians are set out to give it for one night for a cost of a monthly rent.

The city of Panevezys, often called Lithuanian Chicago, probably will benefit from the Eurobasket 2011 the most. In late August, A group teams of Spain, Poland, Turkey, Great Britain and our national team will play games in this city, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to Vakaro zinios.
As less than one month is left before the start of the championship, owners of apartments in Panevezys are moving out to their country houses and bargain away their apartments to basketball fans. Not only the lessors, but the state as well does not see anything illegal in striking it rich without paying taxes to the state budget.
However, the tax authorities are going to get some money too: they warn illegal lessers that they will be fined.
