Alcohol advertising volume in Estonian TV channels grows

The amount of alcohol commercials in Estonian TV channels has grown considerably over the past few years but still they form a small amount of all commercial, LETA/National Broadcasting cites a TNS Emor study.

By the end of October this year, Estonian TV channels had shown 123 hours of alcohol commercials, which is more than during the whole of last year. In 2005-2008 the volume grew constantly, then it fell last year and this year it will exceed the 2008 level.

 

Alcohol commercials form just nearly 2.5% of all commercials though. They can be broadcast starting 9 p.m.

 

This year nearly 5,000 hours of commercials have been shown and 1,007 hours or the biggest amount have been home appliances commercials. They were followed by commercials of cosmetics and hygiene products, computers and office equipment and food commercials, all of which were shown more than 500 hours.
