With this extra money, it will be possible to finance health care services up until the end of this year, Health Minister Didzis Gavars told LETA.
The government will consider the matter tomorrow, August 24. Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis told reporters that the previous leaders of the Health Ministry had made disproportionate spending cuts at hospitals' expense, which is why the situation would have to be tackled now.
With the allocation of the LVL 26.2 million from the state budget, the budget deficit would only increase by LVL 5 million, because LVL 21 million will be saved by reductions in various budgetary payments.
