Altogether 330 kilograms of cement was consumed per resident in Estonia in 2016, which marks a new record post-2009 but is still less than the amount consumed in 2007, the Estonian producer of dry mixes Sakret OU said on Thursday, cites LETA.

"It is the best outcome since 2009, and growth is expected to continue this year," Kaspars Pacevics, manager of Sakret, said commenting on statistics of the European cement industry body Cembureau.

In 2015, cement consumption in Estonia totaled 292 kilograms, in Finland 290 kilograms, in Lithuania 249 kilograms and in Latvia 188 kilograms per resident. By way of comparison, 490 kilograms of cement per resident was consumed in Estonia and 387 kilograms in Finland in 2007, the peak year of the boom of the mid-2000s.

Pacevics said that growth in construction material sales, including in the sales of cement, provide a clear indication of positive outlooks of the construction sector. Sakret too has boosted output significantly this year.
