Algimantas Rascius, long-time top executive of Oro Navigacija (Air Navigation) state-run company, was Thursday dismissed from office. This is the second Lithuanian enterprise controlled by the Transport and Communications Ministry that has seen its leadership replaced after Rokas Masiulis took helm of the ministry, writes LETA/BNS.

"Gross violations of public procurement procedures were established in the company, and they put in question the transparency and efficiency of Rascius' performance," Masiulis told after signing a relevant decree on Thursday.

In the minister's words, the Public Procurement Council has established abundance of public procurement tenders that lacked transparency and were possibly intended for a single supplier.

Oro Navigacija's tender for contractor of the flight control center estimated at nearly 11 mln euros has been stalling for a few years. The ministry had doubts about the selection of Finland's NRPL and France's Thales by way of unannounced negotiations.

Rascius, 62, had been heading Oro Navigacija since 2001. The company meets Lithuania's international commitments in providing specialized services in the country's air space, with its operations strictly controlled by national and international legal acts.
