The purchase price of milk as well as the number of dairy cows in Latvia continues to reduce, according to information from the European Commission writes LETA.

According to the EC's Milk Market Observatory's  latest report, the purchase price of milk in Latvia was 0.1776 cents per kilogram in July, compared to 0.1778 cents in June and 0.1823 cents in May.

 

Compared to the beginning of this year, the purchase price of milk has fallen by 19.2%, as the purchase price this past January was at 0.2200 cents per kilogram.

 

Meanwhile, when compared to last year, the purchase price of milk has fallen by 15.54 percent, as the price of milk in July of 2015 was at 0.2132 cents per kilogram.

 

The average purchase price of milk in the EU is also falling - from 0.2932 cents per kilogram in July of 2015, to 0.2500 cents this July.

 

Furthermore, the registered number of dairy cows also continues to reduce in Latvia and was at 160,823 this July, compared to 161,096 in June, 161,566 in May and 167,248 in July of last year.
