A new management board has been appointed to Latvijas Pasts national postal company for a five-year term, starting August 1, LETA was told at the company.

The company's acting head Marcis Vilcans has become its new CEO, and other board members include Dairis Karklins, Anda Ozola and Kristaps Krumins, who was also a member of the interim board.

Since April 22 Latvijas Pasts was run by an interim management board, which had to be appointed after the Transport Ministry during an inspection in April found various violations and irregularities in the postal company, which led to the resignation of the then management board, including CEO Arnis Salnajs.

The new management board of Latvijas Pasts was selected in a tender, with a commission assessing each candidate's suitability for the job.

Latvijas Pasts is fully owned by the Latvian state and its basic function is providing the universal postal service. The company is also involved in providing philately, transportation, express mail, financial, press and IT services, as well as retail trade.
