Health Insurance Fund covers EUR 8.5 mln worth of medical costs of Estonians abroad

Print versionThe Estonian Health Insurance Fund in 2015 covered the medical costs of Estonians in other European Union member states in the amount of 8.5 million euros, informs LETA/BNS.

Emergency medical care costs of Estonians in other EU member states totaled 5.1 million euros in 2015, spokesperson for the fund said.
Planned medical care costs covered by the fund totaled 3.3 million euros. Such instances totaled 282 last year.
The costs of medical services used by other EU citizens in Estonia totaled 1.2 million euros in 2015.
